Time and mozzarella sticks

A journalist attempts to eat infinite mozzarella sticks while in a TGIF's from 11am-1am, chronicling her entire time there with timestamps.

The Journey Down (Gainesville)

I went on a fantastic bicycle ride yesterday, with the understanding that the way back up would be the complete opposite, the chore, but left it in the air. I was on my way to a St. Patrick's Day get together at a fellow graduate student's home located on Archer and 23rd. My starting point was on 16th Ave and SW 8 ST. Topographically, Gainesville provides easy biking going south, but not returning north.

The ride down was spectacular, I left my friends' home (Nigel and Cheyenne Rudolph), passed by Gator Beverage to pick up some Guinness and continue down the side roads, gradually increasing speed and wind resistance. The weather was hot and humid as well as cool. It all was dependent on tree canopy coverage, clouds and bicycle velocity. As I approached my destination, I realized that I was in a totally different part of Gainesville than where I had started. I had left the area filled with old homes and had arrived at a place filled with apartments and townhomes; a suburbia very much like the ones I thought only existed in Miami/Kendall. The party had been going on without me, people were eating and talking about the weather.. When the event came to a close, I was offered a ride which saved my legs from a painful morning. The drive home was dark, cold and soft, and I had the paws of a rather large dog on my arm which pulled during hard turns.

To the great outdoors and beyond! (Massey reading)

7:00AM Sunday
Drove to Alachua in my husband's comfy, businessman sedan via US 441-N.
Traffic was light and the temperature was a pleasant 65 degrees, so I rode with my windows down. The early morning sky was pale purple and pink with lines of altocumulus clouds marching in diagonal puffy formations and a few rebel cirrus clouds making big expressive flourishes.
As the sun rose, the pastures were dewy and gleaming and the cows were back-lit like angels on religious greeting cards. Low-lying fields were covered in thick strips of fog. I kept thinking I should get out and take some photos but I didn't want to be late for my shoot. As I passed the "Alachua City Limits" sign, I looked in the rear view mirror and the road behind me was engulfed by yellow haze; I could see the silhouettes of street signs and then nothing. It looked like a sci-fi or space movie...I expected to see Ben Affleck or someone break through the fog, walking toward me in super slow-mo in his space suit.
